Souad Kafafi Foundation for Integrated Social Care (S.K.F)

Dr. S. Kafafi is recognized as a distinguished professor and a scholar of great eminence. Through her life (1928 – 2004), she was noted for her ambition, strong will, perseverance and dedication.

Dr. S. Kafafi received her undergraduate education in Egypt and got her doctorate degree from the USA. Since her graduation, she devoted her life to the mission of improving the quality of education in Egypt at all levels.

Dr. S. Kafafi was an active member in the National Specialized Councils – Egypt’s top ranking think - tank serving in the education sector.

She received a number of awards from different European countries including Doctorate of Honour for her scholarly work. She was also nominated for the Noble Prize in the field of education.

Dr. S. Kafafi was a pioneer in the field of private higher education. She founded the High Institute for Tourism and Hotels (HITH) in 1990, and the High Institute for Architecture & Business Administration Technology (HIT) in 1993 and Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) in 1996. She chaired the board of trustees in the three institutions investing her rich experience in developing unconventional programs with a focus on excellence.

Dr. S. Kafafi had a deep sense of social responsibility. As a chancellor of HIT, HITH and MUST, she always resisted the idea of raising tuition in these institutions insisting that quality higher education should be accessible to all Egyptian students who have the aptitude to continue their education. Dr. Kafafi also built a mosque on the university ground which has become a masterpiece in architectural design and beauty. Attached to the mosque, a large, well-decorated and nicely-furnished hall was built for the use of the local community on various social and religious ceremonies.

Dr. S. Kafafi’s social endeavours were culminated in the establishment of this foundation which aims at providing the community with integrated social care.
